Assembly machine for cylinder head valve seats
OVERVIEW
Our client is a large French industrial group specialized in the machining of cylinder heads and engine blocks in medium series.
This customer also carries out large-scale machining of turbine blades for the aeronautics industry.
In addition to the machining of cylinder heads and engine blocks, they also assemble different elements on these blocks.
The project consists of fitting guides and valve seats to these cylinder heads which requires a high mechanical precision and know-how.
Our client mandated us to design and manufacture an assembly machine to perform this delicate operation.
DESCRIPTION
This assembly machine is composed of an island of several stations :
- The assembly machine : it carries out the press-fitting thanks to two electric presses placed vertically, with 3T of push.
- A rotating plate : the components of the press-fitting are positioned on this rotating plate, which allows to work in parallel between the press-fitting itself and the loading of the components for the next press-fitting.
On either side of the central unit there are:
- Robot 1 : which handles the cylinder heads between the inlet-outlet conveyors of the cylinder heads and where there is also a lubrication unit.
- Robot 2 : smaller than Robot 1, it handles the different guides and seats to position them in our machine. These guides and seats (7 references in all) are distributed via vibrating bowls. The seats are cooled with liquid nitrogen before fitting.
- a cooling unit : it stores and manages the liquid nitrogen
- a mobile support system to immerse the seats in the nitrogen
